Financial literacy is more than understanding money. It is about having the knowledge, confidence and judgement to make informed choices in everyday life.
DhanDrishti, the Financial Literacy Programme (FLP), is an initiative that takes financial education beyond textbooks and into real-life experiences. Through structured learning, practical activities, peer engagement and community outreach, the programme seeks to help young learners understand money, question financial choices and make decisions with greater confidence.
At its heart, DhanDrishti believes that financial knowledge becomes more meaningful when it is shared.
Why Financial Literacy Matters
Financial decisions begin early.
How we spend, save, borrow, protect and plan our money can influence our opportunities and our future. Yet financial concepts often remain distant from the everyday experiences of young people.
DhanDrishti creates a space where learners can explore these concepts in a simple, practical and engaging way. The programme encourages learners not merely to know financial terms, but to understand how financial decisions connect with their lives, families and communities.
From Learning to Sharing
One of the strengths of DhanDrishti lies in its peer-led approach.
Students are not only participants in the learning process; they also have opportunities to become facilitators and share their knowledge with others. This creates a cycle in which learning moves from one individual to another and eventually into the wider community.

Through this approach, students develop not only financial awareness but also communication, collaboration, leadership and a deeper sense of social responsibility.
My journey with FLP started in my second year of college when I joined the team as a Trainer. I still remember my first session; I was extremely nervous, standing in front of 80 students to teach a topic I myself was not very confident about. I spent hours researching and understanding the concept just to teach for an hour, and that made me truly respect the effort our teachers put in. Despite the nervousness, I gave my best, and the positive feedback from the class gave me a real sense of satisfaction. After 2-3 sessions, I was promoted to Core Trainer, which felt like a true reward for the hard work I had put in.
This role gave me the opportunity to teach students from Grade 6 to 12 across multiple schools, and while teaching them, I was learning side by side from their curiosity and mindset. I strongly believe in what we do as a club, we are not just teaching financial concepts; we are helping students and their families make better financial decisions.
In my third year of college, I became the Trainer's Head. Being a trainer taught me confidence, communication, and public speaking, and in addition to this, being the head taught me leadership, how to manage people and support them. FLP has given me much more than just a position; it made me a more confident person and a better leader. I am truly grateful for this entire journey.

A Collaborative Learning Ecosystem
DhanDrishti brings together students, faculty members, industry professionals, schools and communities.
The programme combines academic knowledge with practical perspectives to create learning experiences that remain relevant to the world outside the classroom.
The curriculum and learning experiences are developed with academic guidance and strengthened through practical and industry-oriented perspectives, ensuring that learners encounter financial concepts in ways that are meaningful and applicable. The existing programme similarly emphasises learner-centred curriculum development and academic and industry review.

Dhanvriti
At the heart of the Financial Literacy Programme is Dhanvriti, its flagship financial quiz, where learning meets curiosity, competition and real-world thinking. The event gives young learners an opportunity to take their financial knowledge beyond the classroom and engage with concepts through an exciting quiz experience. Covering themes drawn from everyday finance and financial awareness, Dhanvriti encourages participants to think critically, connect ideas and apply what they have learned. More than a competition, it celebrates curiosity and builds confidence in understanding the financial world around us.
Taking Financial Literacy Further
The impact of financial literacy grows when knowledge travels beyond the original classroom.
DhanDrishti has extended its learning initiatives across different educational settings, bringing financial literacy and capacity-building opportunities to students beyond the CHRIST campus. Earlier initiatives included engagement with postgraduate students at SFS College, Bengaluru, and KPR College of Arts, Science and Research, Tamil Nadu.
CUDSI Through such collaborations, the programme continues to explore how financial knowledge can reach diverse groups and contribute to more informed and financially aware communities.
